New!! Purse Organizer Tutorial

*******UPDATE!!  If you would like to purchase PDF Pattern for the Purse Organizer and Tutorial check it out here!*****************

Okay so back in January I showed you a purse organizer that I made (check it out here). I made it for my mom. She seemed to like it. I wanted to make one for myself, but as time would have it, I never got around to it...until this week. One of my followers also asked me for a tutorial, so here it is. Enjoy!
What you'll need:

2-8"x8" pieces of your main fabric, your lining and your interfacing
3-3.5" x 8" pieces of your main fabric, lining, and interfacing(sides and bottom)
2-4.5"x8" pieces of your main fabric and interfacing (these are for the inside pockets)
1-5"x8" piece of main fabric and interfacing (for back pocket)
3-3.5"x4" pieces of your main fabric &/or lining fabric, with interfacing (you can decide on your pockets)
2-9" pieces of ribbon
thread

Instructions:

Step 1-Cut out all your fabric pieces and interfacing.

Step 2-Iron your interfacing pieces to your correct fabric pieces. The more interfacing you use the sturdier it will be. (P.S. If you pick a sturdy fabric like a nylon you won't need interfacing. That is what I used on my first purse organizer)
Step 3-Press the top edge of each of your pocket pieces down 1/8 inch and then press down 1/8 inch more. Sew.

Step 4-Sew your pocket pieces to the correct main fabric or lining pieces.
Step 5-Sew across the bottom of each pocket piece about 1/4" from the bottom. This will keep items from getting "lost" at the bottom of your pocket.
Step 6-Sew your four main fabric sides together and sew your four lining fabric sides together.
Step 7-Sew the bottoms to your sides. (You should end up with two separate purse pieces)
Step 8-Press the top edge of each "purse" down about 1/2". Then place the lining inside of the main fabric.
Step 9-Pin your ribbon in between your lining and main fabric. Pin your lining to your main fabric and top stitch all the way around your bag.

Now you are done!!

I've got a pocket for my phone, my planner, my camera, even my chapstick.

Here is a nice view of the inside.

Looks wonderful! So many pockets, great for a mum of twins! My sewing is no where near able to tackle this yet, but definitely one to book mark, thanks for sharing!

This is fabulous!! I made something similar, but, with a pattern (its on my blog). Yours looks a lot easier. I also love the fabric you chose.

Stopping by from Creative Itch and your newest follower. This is what I shared this week: http://craftybrooklynarmywife.blogspot.com/2011/05/red-simplicity-cynthia-rowley-dress.html
